Taken at a local fireworks show. This photograph uses a long-exposure technique to capture the movement and full trajectory of fireworks rather than freezing a single moment. The extended shutter speed allows each burst to form continuous trails of light, creating a sense of motion and depth within the frame. Unlike eyesight, a camera shutter can capture entire periods of time into one singular shot.
This photograph captures a touchdown catch from an unusually close perspective. Rather than using a traditional telephoto sports lens, I used a 50mm prime, which required me to gamble a position and anticipate the play before it developed. Access to the field was made possible through a school yearbook press pass, allowing me to photograph the game from a perspective normally unavailable from the stands.
This photoshoot combined product design, apparel manufacturing, and experimental portrait photography on the University of Utah campus. I designed and manufactured a custom Ute jersey, then photographed it at the University’s iconic “U” as the backdrop at sunset. I experimented with a soft handheld flash to balance the warm ambient light with controlled illumination on the subject, creating separation while maintaining the atmosphere of the campus.
